Paperback Books
I have found that Paperback Books make for excellent presents. They're easy to find, reasonable and pleasant for those who love to read. In my house there are countless Paperback Books that are suitable for all ages to read.
I am an avid reader. I enjoy a wide variety of topics. I read for personal development, career advancement and also pleasure. It seems that I always have a number of paperback books as well as professional journals, lying around the bed and on the coffee table. I even joined a book club.
It was fun getting novels as they first arrived on the market, but I found that I did not enjoy the hardcover books. They are heavy to hold and take up a great deal of space to store. Also they are quite expensive compared to paperback books.
My neighbor is also an avid reader. We like many of the same authors so we exchange paperback books quite often. We decided that we will let the other know when we purchase a book so that we will not be buying the same books.
This works out well except for storing the books once they have been read. I started placing the books in a box in the garage once we had both read them. My plan was to donate the books once I had the box filled. I also have a friend that is an avid reader. We live in different states so we only see each other a couple times a year. But we do have book exchanges when we do get together.
Last winter my neighbor and I went to the local library to research tatting. We were interested in learning how to do this, but we wanted to see what it involved before we purchased materials. While we were at the library we could not help but notice that they had a large cart of paperback books. The librarian told us that these books were for sale for a quarter.
| They started selling them because they had so many donations that they could not keep up with cataloging them. This way they did not have to keep track of the books. For every two paperback books you bring in you could take one. If you did not bring in books you could purchase one for a quarter. |
My neighbor and I both bought three books and planned to bring in several paperback books the next time we were in town. I had donated my paperback books to goodwill in the past; many of them were not taking them for awhile. The program at the library is a truly splendid idea. The librarian did mention that if we had hard cover books they would catalog themnd loan them out to patrons.
If you've got a passion for reading like my neighbor and I, then you must invest in Paperback Books instead of the hard covers. I have found that Paperback Books are easy to carry around with you and that there weight does not inconvenience you.
