Let's look at some of the features you will require for guiding your dog:
(1) The first thing you will require is a shipping crate, it must be of adequate size in order that your pug doesn’t suffer any sort of difficulty to stand up and turn around.
(2) To select an appropriate “Potty area” for your puppy is significant.
(3) A "Potty Word or Sign";.
(4) Your puppy's desired snacks. I find small slices of hot dog (the sausage) work great and your dog will love them!.
(5) A non ammonia cleaner essential for any accident areas. If you can get one that is made specially for pets, they are the best. You must be able to find one which is called "No Go". You can buy this from pet stores or catalogs.
(6) A schedule designed to know your pugs needs;.
(7) Time and patience is the essential thing you will need besides all the above mentioned points.
The type of crate and its significance which you will need is defined below :-
If you can get the molded, fiberglass type of crate used when shipping by air that is the most excellent type. This will become your dog's "den" and - believe it or not - he will grow to adore it. Your dog will stay in his crate at all times when you are not paying him your complete attention.
When you purchase a crate for your pug dog it should be of a proper size as a very large crate can affect your purpose of housetraining. For most young pug puppies, you will need a crate divider. These are very helpful because you can purchase a crate which will fit your adult dog and utilize it while he is still a puppy.
One of the most significant points is keeping a chart to know the daily routine of your dog. You must note down his playtime, his potty timing, wake up time etc. so that you don’t face any difficulty. All such timings can be recognized to you after observing his regular activities for at least a week.
Your pugs can realize his “potty area” if you habitually hold your dog up and carry him to the same place. Take a favorite snack of his with you, it could even be the hot dog.
Stay with your dog and have him on a lead if possible. You absolutely must not play with him. Your dog must learn from the starting that this is not playtime or walk time, it is "potty time."
As soon as the pup starts relieving, select a word for potty. Acquaint him with that word so that whenever you say that word, he should go out immediately. Whenever you think that the pup is learning it, utter the word pleasantly and praise him for the successful completion of the job.
Admire your pug puppy when he potties on the chosen location. After potty take him inside and give favorite snack to him. It is important to take him outside right after food or playtime. You must repeat this sequence till evening.
As puppies have the tendency to go for potty and urinate after food so it is suggested not to give food and water to them after 10:00 p.m. It is also suggested to provide warm bedding to the dog’s crate and before you go for sleep set it up in the bedroom near you.
Your puppy will settle in comfortably if he is close to your bed. Usually he desires to go out and micturate instantly after waking up. But don’t forget his potty area and methods you learnt.
